Mika Sipponen is an Assistant Professor in Sustainable Materials Chemistry at the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry (MMK) in Stockholm University. His current research program is focused on developing functional lignin-based materials for energy and environmental applications. He has made research stays spanning from a few weeks to one year in China (2009), France (2012), Italy (2017) and Japan (2019). In addition to international academic collaboration, his group pursues cooperation with industrial partners to demonstrate and scale-up the novel materials.
